Wedding Reception Dances and Activities
COCKTAIL HOUR
Following the ceremony, the bride and groom generally spend some time taking photos and changing. Guests are usually invited to "cocktail hour", which is the time between the end of the ceremony and the start of the reception. Soft music will be played while guests mingle with one another.
INTRODUCTIONS
When the Bride and Groom first enter, the MC/DJ will announce their presence, along with the rest of the wedding party.
DINNER
By this time, guests are usually getting pretty hungry. Soft music will continue throughout dinner.
TOASTS
Towards the end of the dinner, the MC will invited guests to toast the Bride and Groom, and give time for the Bride and Groom to speak.
BRIDE AND GROOM FIRST DANCE
The 1st dance will be for the bride and groom to dance their 1st dance as a married couple. This is the dance that has everyone’s attention as they watch the happy couple hold each other while swaying and listening to everyone’s cheers.
PARENTS DANCE
Immediately after the couple has had their first dance, it’s time for the parents to join them. The bride will typically dance with her father and the groom typically dances with his mother. If the parent is not present, then a substitute from the family will replace the parent.
WEDDING PARTY DANCE
Next onto the dance floor is the wedding party. The groom will dance with the maid-of-honor and the bride with the best man. All the bridesmaids dance with groomsmen, the ring bearer with the flower girl, and the ushers with each other or their dates.
WEDDING GUESTS DANCE
Once the above dances are completed, the guests of the wedding are invited to join the dance floor.
CAKE CUTTING, BOQUET TOSS, GARTER TOSS, MONEY DANCE
Generally, about 50 minutes after the start of the Wedding Guests Dance, the DJ/MC will call for the cake cutting ceremony, along with any extras that the Bride and Groom desire. Following the cake cutting, guests are invited to continue dancing until near the end of the event, which is signaled by the...
FINAL FAREWELL
At the end of the night, guests are invited to send off the Bride and Groom in style. This can be done with anything from bubbles to sparklers.
Following the final farewell, the DJ will begin shutting off lights, signaling that the event is over.
